Weekend Chainmail: Chainmail Outside

I thought about saving this post for the first of may, but I decided a chainmail parade would be appropriate for St. Patrick's Day as well. It turns out Denver is famous for it's Green Beer Holiday Parade. I have to work so I would love some pictures or updates.

I hope it's like this only Greener

I have noticed a trend in many of the pictures I am finding. Many of them come from Ren Faires. If you have a moment you should really check out this. I love this podcast and pretty much everything else Marc Gunn does. I am actually still bummed about the Brobdingnagian Bards breaking up. Some of my best D and D moments have used their songs.

I digress. I have found a good number of pictures of people wearing chainmail outside and it was warm enough today for me to share them. I hope you enjoy.

So I just got back from working in the mountains and I found this wonderful picture.

Saturday Chainmail: Sensible Armor

I posted a picture of a female character in more sensible armor a couple of days ago. I have since found several more beautiful pictures of women in sensible armor. I hope you enjoy the break from the chainmail bikini. 

Wonder Woman in Ancient Armor

This first picture is of Wonder Woman in ancient armor. I really like the Roman look and the best part is that you can still tell you are looking at a woman.

I like this picture of Alice in armor from the new Alice in Wonderland movie. It's about the only thing I do like about the movie. 

Explain to me again why Hatters are mad?

As much as I enjoy the chainmail bikini it is more than possible to have beautiful pictures of women in sensible armor. 

Sometimes less isn't more. Sometimes more is more.

I am not going to go completely away from the normal weekend chainmail. I will be back to the cheesecake you know and love next week, or perhaps Wednesday. Saturday Chainmail: Star Wars

I have seen a lot of complaints about the portrayal of women in D and D and since I post chainmail bikinis every Saturday I thought I should make some sort of response. I give you Princess Leia Organa Solo a very strong female lead.

A princess rescue does not have to be sexist

I have not rescued a prince before in D and D and I think if I did I would end up with a lot of Monty Python references at my table. However, the last time I rescued a Princess she basically took over as soon as we let her out of the cell and she ended the session as an Empress ruling in her own right. I know the trope has been overdone, but it doesn't have to be sexist.

Saturday Chainmail: Couples

Welcome to the next edition of your Weekend Chainmail. Today I would like to show some pictures of couples. I suppose it is a bit sad that in these the woman is much more scantily clad, but I don't really want to see men scantily clad.

I think the couple dressed up this way for a con. You can actually see the badges they are wearing. It looks like they are having a good time. I love their headgear.

Again this couple looks like they are having a great time. It makes you wonder what they were doing right before they took the picture.

Saturday Chainmail: The Jacket

I love looking for pictures for Saturday Chainmail. I am a little sad occasionally because I want to keep this strictly PG-13, and I find a lot of wonderful pictures that are R or higher. However, I have found a lot of really neat things while looking as well.

I am pretty sure this isn't actually made of chainmail, but I would love a sports coat that looked like this. I  found it here, and I just had to share. 

Mantle Front

I really love the design of this chainmail mantle front. I'm not really sure, but I think the graphic in the center is a cat and the ones on the side are trees. My favorite part  though, is the trim. Be sure to check out this website for some other projects from this artist

I was looking for some accessories to round out an elegant chainmail outfit. I have found a few pieces of jewelry that would go well with any piece ranging from a lovely dress to the more traditional bikini. First is this piece from pkjewelry4u.

I really love this piece. I especially like the icy blue chalcedony pieces. I found this necklace here on Katherine Ware's Jewelry Blog.

I love redheads!

My final picture today is of Michelle! at the Arizona Renfest a couple of years ago. I love the way the necklace draws attention to her large... tracks of land. Honestly, I like the whole outfit. I tend to shy away from leather most of the time, but she really pulls it off. I think I like the skull button on her bag most of all. Until next time remember, don't let your DM tell you no. Saturday Chainmail: Bags

A long time ago I had acquired a chain-mail dice bag. It was actually really well made and I had a lot of fun bringing out my bag and seeing the envy on the other players faces. Unfortunately I lost it in one move or another. I haven't been able to replace it yet, but I have found some really neat bags to share with you.

I leave you with this picture. I love the way the flowing white robes drape over the lady's leg. I am not sure if the warrior is real, from the way the lady looks it appears he may be a spirit. Coming Attractions

I have had a bit of a hard time coming up with content for my daily post schedule. It doesn't help that my first inclination is to write a Master's Thesis on each topic so I usually wind up writing like mad in the last few hours before I post. I have decided to add some structure to the blog which will hopefully make it easier to provide content.

Coming Attractions:I am going to start each  workweek with a Coming Attractions post. It is here that I will preview what is coming throughout the week or possibly even farther in the future. If you have something you would like me to look into here would be a great place to talk about it.

Secret Warlock: Starting this Tuesday I am going to chronicle the adventures of Aranis my spoony Bard, who is actually a Warlock in disguise. I am not sure if it will be fictional from my characters persepctive or more of an overview from my perspective. In fact I may occasionally do both.

Weekly Homebrew: On Thursdays I will post custom created monsters and other homebrew materials. This week I am going to continue with my idea for a Banking clan of Dragons.

Saturday Chainmail: Of course I will continue posting weekend chainmail updates.

I am going to keep the other days free for articles or other things I feel the need to write about. I am currently thinking about an article about sexuality in D and D, an article about balancing work, family and gaming and finally an article about what I have learned in my year of Virtual Table gaming. Saturday Chain-mail: Chess

Welcome to another edition of your Weekend Chain-mail. I thought I would take a break from the usual format, and look for some other interesting uses of Chain-mail. I found this.

This is lovely set of chain-mail chess pieces. Each of the pieces are distinctive and the workmanship is excellent. I found them on Chain Mail Basic. It took the artist over a year to make all the pieces. But, what would chess pieces be without a board to play them on?

Among my other gaming interests besides D and D I truly enjoy a game of chess. I would love to have one of these sitting on my coffee table. I will leave you with this. Saturday Chain-mail 2

Welcome to the next edition of your Saturday Chain-mail. I have found several more exquisite pictures to share with you. First is this lovely lady. The chain work is excellent. Take note of the intricate knot-work on her leg set off by the brown fabric. She also has matching chain bracelets. I really enjoy how the green vines contrast with the subtle earth tones of her outfit.

I really like this next poster. Not only is the lady in the poster gorgeous, the outfit is spectacular. I love the shade of blue and it is actually quite tasteful for the genre. Additionally, though the statement is anachronistic, I like the sentiment. My wife is a seamstress and says something similar about her corsets on occasion.
